Professors » Elvira Maria Guerra Shinohara

 

Elvira Maria Guerra-Shinohara is a pharmacist and an Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Analyses and Toxicology, School of Pharmaceutical Science, University of Sao Paulo (FCF-USP). She has Master and PhD in Pharmacy (Clinical Analyses) and postdoctoral at the University of Oxford (UK). Dr Guerra-Shinohara specializes in examining how deprivation or overload of B-complex vitamins, iron and other nutritional elements affects the women’s health and their neonates. She is responsible for disciplines offered at the undergraduate program (Clinical Hematology, Pathophysiology of the Hematopoietic System and Biostatistics) and also at the graduate program. She is a supervisor at the Program of Clinical Analysis at FCF-USP and at Oncohematology and Blood Transfusion Division, Federal University of Sao Paulo-EPM/UNIFESP. Her main research lines are related to the biochemical and molecular aspects of anemia; metabolism of folate, vitamin B12 and iron; and physiology and molecular diagnosis of hemostasis disorders.
