HOW TO APPLY TO THE FOOD SCIENCE PROGRAM

A) You can apply anytime of the year to a Masters or PhD position in the Food Science Program.

B) First analyze the Research Lines and Projects that you may be interested in.

C) Contact through email the supervisor associated to the Research Line and Project you became interested in. If the supervisor accepts supervising you, next step would be to define a research project proposal.

D) You should demonstrate a certificate of proficiency in English.

 

Masters Level

CPE - Certificate of Proficiency in English Pontuação (minimum grad): C

IELTS - International English Language Testing System (minimum grade): 5.5

TOEFL - Test of English as Foreign Language
PBT Paper-based Test (minimum grade): 400
IBT Internet-based Test (minimum grade): 055
CBT Computer-based Test (minimum grade): 160

BULATS – Business Language Testing Service (minimum grade): lower intermediate (B1)

TEAP (Test of English for Academic Purposes) in Biology/Health fields (minimum grade): 50 (B1)

 

PhD or PhD without a Masters degree level

F) For Masters level, the entering examination comprises a 1-hour discussion of your research proposal with a committee of 3 professors. For the PhD or PhD without a Masters levels, the entering examination comprises a 15-min oral presentation of your research proposal and then a 45-min discussion of your research proposal with a committee of 3 professors. This examination can be done either on-site or through video conference.
