Current Project: Recovery of Prioritary Pollutants from Aqueous Solutions through Liquid-liquid Extraction with Simultaneous Treatment of Acid Gases.
Objective: In the present work it is studied the recovery of phenol, 2, 4-dimethylphenol, 2-chlorophenol and 2-nitrophenol diluted in aqueous solutions. The process consists of 3 stages: (a) removal of each phenol individually from the aqueous solution through liquid-liquid extraction with methyl isobutyl ketone ; (b) removal of each phenol of the extract generated in stage (a) through liquid-liquid extraction with chemical reaction with aqueous an aqueous solution of NaOH, and (c) recovery of each phenol from the aqueous solution generated in stage (b) through the reaction with acid gases (CO2, SO2 and H2S). In stage (c) the reaction will also be tested with a gaseous mixture that simulates fuel combustion gases.
